How does it work?

Three steps, and the only one that takes your time is the first.

  1. Send photos and your suburbA couple of photos of the tree and the access path tell an arborist more than a paragraph can.
  2. One local tree business gets itNot three. Your enquiry goes to a single independent, licensed Gold Coast tree business.
  3. They contact you with a quoteAny quote, contract and payment is between you and them. You pay nothing to use this service.

Do you need council approval?

4 mHeight
40 cmTrunk circumference, measured 1.3 m up

Over either threshold and the City of Gold Coast treats the vegetation as assessable. Mapped remnant, regrowth and wetland vegetation is assessable at any size, and the exemptions do not apply to trees on body corporate land.

The council rules guide, with the exemptions and how to check your own address.

Why one tree business, not three?

Because being chased by three tradies after one enquiry helps nobody. Each one knows it is competing, so each one prices defensively, and whoever wins covers the cost of the two that did not. Sending your enquiry to a single business means one call, one site visit and one quote, from someone who thinks the job is worth turning up for.

The trade-off is worth saying plainly: you are seeing one price, not a comparison. You are never obliged to accept it, and the cost guide gives you published ranges to check it against. More on how this works, and how it is paid for.

Common questions

Is this service free?

Yes. Sending an enquiry and getting a quote costs you nothing. Tree businesses pay a flat fee to receive enquiries from this site, so the cost never lands on you. How it works explains the steps.

Who will do the work?

An independent, licensed local tree business that services your part of the Gold Coast. We split the coast into three zones, North, Central and South, and send each enquiry to the business covering your suburb. They contact you directly to quote and, if you go ahead, do the job and contract with you. We only refer to businesses that tell us they hold the licences and public liability insurance their work needs, so ask the business for its current certificate of currency before you accept a quote. See how it works and the areas we cover.

How fast will someone contact me?

We pass your enquiry on promptly, usually the same business day. The tree business then contacts you directly, usually by phone, and how quickly it rings is up to that business, so this site cannot promise a time. If it is an emergency, use the numbers on the emergency tree service page rather than a web form, and see how it works for what happens after you send an enquiry.

Do you cover my suburb?

Enquiries are taken from across the Gold Coast, from Coomera and Helensvale in the north to Currumbin and Coolangatta in the south, including parts of the hinterland. We group suburbs into three zones, North, Central and South, and your enquiry goes to an independent tree business that services your zone. The areas page lists every suburb by zone. Put your suburb in the form on the get a quote page to send an enquiry.

Are you a tree company?

No. Gold Coast Tree Pros is a referral service, not a tree business. No one here climbs, cuts or quotes. A licensed local arborist does all of that. How it works has the detail.
